Online TMEDSeries 20/21: Event Two - Neuromuscular Disease
On 11th February 2021, we held the second in our virtual TMEDSeries 20/21 events focusing on Motor Neurone Disease. Our keynote speakers Dr Maria Biferi, Sorbonne University discussed “Gene Therapy for ALS: Challenges and Perspectives” and Professor Andrea Malaspina, UCL Queen Square Motor Neurone Disease Centre discussed “a strategy for Biomarkers Discovery in ALS: harnessing the systemic immune response”. Dr Kirsten Kelly, MND Association shared the MND Association’s Red Flag Tool for General Practitioners and our local speaker Dr Stephanie Duguez, NICSM, Ulster University updated on “the role of secretory vesicles in Motor Neurone Disease”, current research taking place within her Lab.

Online TMEDSeries 20/21: Event One - Cardiovascular Disease
On 10th December 2020, we held the first in our virtual TMEDSeries 20/21 events focusing on Cardiovascular Disease. Our keynote speakers Professor Christian Delles, University of Glasgow discussed novel mechanisms of Cardiovascular Disease and potential translation to the clinic and Professor Declan O’Regan, University College London discussed the role of Artificial Intelligence in Cardiovascular Imaging. Our local speakers including Drs Aaron Peace, CEO C-TRIC, Raymond Bond, School of Computing, Ulster University, Victoria McGilligan, NICSM Ulster University, Taranjit Singh Rai, NICSM Ulster University and Steven Watterson, NICSM Ulster University gave a brief introduction to the newly set up CardioRISC (Cardiovascular Research & Improvement Science Centre).
